When Secret’s Tell Truths-Eureka seveN AO Episode 15

Eureka Seven AO Main Cast

[Eureka seveN AO Episode 14]

If there is anything Astral Ocean does better than It’s predecessor, is that it keeps the story moving. For the last month, the quick pace has brought us into the thick of the story without so much as a pause. And as we move from one revelation to the next, it’s now the Secret’s turn to begin revealing their story. What truth’s will Eureka seveN show us this week?

This episode begins to highlight a growing despair amongst Generation Bleu. Ao’s emotional state is slowly degrading. The confusion brought by seeing his mother, both in real form and ghost, makes him unsure of his self. Fleur and the rest of the pilots begin to question whether Secrets are really their enemy, putting doubt in their mind and in their attack. In true story form, this show is reach it’s darkest point before rising to a conclusion.

Eureka Seven AO Aos Dream World Crumbles

With Eureka’s return, the status of how Secret’s fit into the world has been put into question. What were lead to believe at the series beginning is changing as rapidly. The capture of the “head” of a secret by the Japanese government, and their ability to communicate at a basic level open’s a new Pandora’s Box. The truth that the secret speaks only works to confirm what the ghostly Eureka said. Secret’s may not be an enemy at all, but a protector of this time, a sort of earthly antibody.

Eureka Seven AO Humanoid Secrets

Complicating this is the revival of deactivated Scub Coral. And the people reactivating it are Naru and Truth. For what reason has yet to be seen. Naru has bonded with the Scub, and is able to communicate with it. Truth is something entirely different. Being an amalgamation of both Secret and Scub makes his intentions all the more curious. What does he gain by reactivating the Scub, other than to bring more secrets to the mix?

Eureka Seven AO Naru Truth Scub

As Generation Bleu moves to counter the reactivation of the Scub, they also achieve real time communication with the captured Secret using Gerog’s AI. The Secret places the blame on the reactivation of the Scub on the event from 10 years ago. The even that started Generation Bleu, infected Naru, and where Eureka was the first one to remove the crystal from the middle of the Scub Coral. There is an implication on the Secret’s tone that by not letting them destroy it, that their continued return is the result.

Eureka Seven AO Scub Crystal Storage

With much at stake in the story, it’s brutal that Bone’s has decided to take a three week break to avoid interfering with Olympics’ coverage. As this episode is paired with 16, there will be plenty of time to speculate and make conjecture. But it will be anyone’s best guess as to where the story goes.

I know I want to like this show so very much, but I am truly, truly lost.

So essentially Ao may turn out to be a Time Lord? Or at the very least Serrah Farron without the whole dying in the end and causing time to be obliterated?

  2. Taka says:

I’m wondering if the special Quartz that the Secret’s are talking about is not the Type Zero Nirvash. Since that was the moment Eureka left and after her return it just mysteriously became a factor again hmmmm.

I’m wondering when Renton is going to show up.

    • JoeAnimated says:

Both situations are linked to Eureka. When she left 10 years ago, she was carrying the quartz with her. As for Renton, the’ll save him for the end to swoop in and save the day.

  3. sadakups says:

What ghosty said. I seriously want to like this show, but I just couldn’t for some reason. It’s not that I’m lost with what’s happening, though. Probably it’s not as catchy as the original Eureka Seven. That’s just me though.

Right now, I just want Renton to show up.

    • bumphgb says:

You’re right, the show is missing the hook to keep everyones interest. I’ll keep watching because I don’t dislike the show but with no real enemy, a weak lead character, interesting but underused peripheral characters, a story with no real journey (metaphorical or actual), a reluctance to accept that one young man amongst many young women would provide some sexual tension (a genuine love interest would help I think) and (the elephant in the room) the HUGELY popular previous series with a wealth of much loved characters that have been all but forgotten.

    • JoeAnimated says:

Yeah, I agree with bumphgb, there is just something missing or not right that is preventing me from being completely drawn in.

      • bumphgb says:

I think any one of the things I mentioned would elevate the show to a more entertaining form. The personality void that is Ao is what I think is letting the show down the most, it’s almost impossible to empathize with him and I think the writers need to realise this.

  4. I don’t know how I missed the obvious fact that Truth and Naru are going around reactivating the Scubs. *sigh*

This show really does leave me with far from enough to hang onto to understand. I’m glad I’m not the only one lost. But I am really, really enjoying this show anyway.

    • JoeAnimated says:

I don’t know if lost is the right word. It’s more like we’re being left out of the story. It’s almost like the director is choosing to be symbolic and mysterious, but in a way that escapes us as the viewer. If I have to re-watch the last 4 episodes to realize what I missed every time a new episode airs, it’s going to be frustrating.

  5. mechafan2040 says:

So will there be a new gundam AGE tomorrow??

  6. hmm did u notice in the preview, the very last scene where Ao is laying down and eureka is facing him, do you think Ao made it to the “other world” because the scenery of the floor seemed a little off. but then again this eureka isnt pregnant could be just another memory or illusion?

    • JoeAnimated says:

Who knows, this show is all over the place, it could be just about anything.

      • Yea so true, but dont you think, Ao traveling to Eurekas world sounds interesting. what else could they do though can this show really go back to just defeat secrets while slowly learning what the back story is, like in the first 10 episodes but the secrets are just a bit harder because theres scub plants reactivating all over the world, feels like it needs to go in another direction. Well i dont know that is just my opinion.

  7. Chris Tenney says:

I am loving Char on this panel! LOL

  8. megaroad1 says:

I’m liking the fact that they are starting to give move on from the questions and starting with the answers. However those answers are still far from convincing. The “Secrets” seem less than benign defenders of the Earth to me.

I don’t know if it’s in the masterplan of E7AO’s writing team for Naru to come back from the ‘dark side’ and help Ao towards the end of this series. I suppose so, considering that she was the first character introduced after Ao and his first romantic interest and we all know that these generally end up with the male anime lead. In any case, my point is that they have made her character so repulsive so far, that they have a lot of work to do to make her likeable again in the next 9 chapters.

    • JoeAnimated says:

One thing I found interesting about the Secrets was their use of tracking lasers, much like what is installed in both Nirvash types. It’s almost like the Secrets are from a similar time frame as Eureka.

Maybe it isn’t the intent to make her likable. It might be better suited for her to die for the cause. Or at the very least, make the sacrifice to save Ao (and most likely everyone else). I think that role is much better suited to where she is at right now.

  9. SQA says:

Eureka 7 AO is easily Char’s favorite series of the last few years.

As for the “10 years ago” bit, there’s actually 4 possibilities: 1) The quartz itself, 2) Naru, 3) Truth, 4) Eureka. We don’t know which.

    • JoeAnimated says:

The current and past situations are linked to Eureka. When she left 10 years ago, she was carrying the quartz with her. Her interaction changed how the current timeline interacts with the Scub, and defends against Secrets. What I don’t get is that if Secrets have been visiting earth for hundreds of years like we’ve been lead to believe, why the sudden rush to defeat them? Is it purely for commercial reasons to harvest the coral remnants? Many more questions keep popping up.

  10. foshizzel says:

Ohhh yes! It seems Naru has combined with the scub bursts which have given her new powers! Hooray for her and it also gives her the ability to fly naked around in time? Just kidding its all in her head…for now….

LOLOLOL Char! You win for best comment ever and the grade of 9999999/10? Thumbs up!
