Thank You

As you can see, today marks a special, but sad day. Today, We Remember Love ends its’ fantastic run. From a humble beginning, it has become the place to discuss the Gundam and Macross universe. The unique writing, and engaging comment section, has made this more than a blog, and more like a community. In the short time I have been a part of it, I have found it to be an engaging place, one where an amalgamation of passion filled ideas come together to make post more than a one-sided conversation.

So I wanted to leave this final word as my way of saying thanks to Ghostlightning. When he offered to let me write at his blog, I was a bit nervous. As many of you know, I am not a quarter the Gundam or Macross fan that Ghost is. My interest, while science fiction in nature for the most part, are in other shows. But Ghost welcome me with open arms. For my early posts, he provided an editorial review, helping to develop a style and format that would not only benefit his blog, but help me improve as well. I found that I enjoyed being a part of WRL. And as I got more rooted into the WRL, I got to know Ghost better as well. As a fellow dad, and of girls at that, we share very similar situations, even half a world a part. I got to know Ghost the person, and over time, considered him a friend.

So, Thank You. Thank you for the opportunity you game me to explore my ability to write. Thank you for the lessons in blogging that you taught me. Thank you for the mentoring you gave.

The anime, and blogging world in general, will miss We Remember Love. But we all are looking forward to what you have in store next.

Thanks for your hard work, Joe. I wish that I had joined in with you in being a contributor to the blog. Your coverage of Mysterious Girlfriend opened up that series to me and I sincerely appreciate it, as it ended up being one of my favorite new series of the last year. Let’s keep in touch on Google +!

I wish we could have work together more on posts. You’re always welcome to come join me in my new project. I’m glad you like MGX. Hopefully you’ve picked up the manga and started reading that. So much great stuff starts happening where the anime leaves off. And if I don’t see you on G+, I’m always on twitter (@JoeAnimated).

  2. You’re welcome Joe. Truth is you were much needed, as I’ve tried to recruit over the years and was unsuccessful until you came along.

While I believe that WRL fulfilled Oi, Hayaku’s vision of what anime blog content could become… I failed to turn WRL into a consistent multi-author blog.

Vuc has out-ghostlightninged me in turning Altair and Vega into precisely this… turning collaborators into authors who publish semi-regularly on A/V. I wish that site all the best and may their authors stick with it for the long haul.

This is the same advice I give you. Publish 3x a week. You can do this if you have multiple authors. Multiple authors who are active in the social spaces of the internet will bring their own readership to your blog, and this will sustain your effort.

If you can’t do these things, join THAT anime blog. It’s run loose but its readership is large and loyal. It will suit your episodic blogging inclination.

Even if you don’t agree with, or like the material of the other authors… it won’t matter. In the end it’s your content reaching out to your readers — who are the viewers of the show you’re covering for the season.

As always, sage advice. With my new endevor, I’m going with the same hopes you had. Surround myself with like minded people and give them a welcome place to express themselves. If this falls on it’s face, and I still have the itch, joining a blog like THAT would be a great alternative (even if Crusader is a 49’s putz). And you know you’re always welcome to visit my new location, or if you have the time, go on the livestream and talk shop with us. Thanks again for everything!

Look forward to reading some of your stuff some other place. Who knows, maybe you get to finish Eureka Seven AO?

    • JoeAnimated says:

I will definitely be finishing AO. Can’t go this far and not do it! I’m thinking that re-watching the last 4 or so episodes in quick succession might help with some of the confusion. Thanks for sticking with me, and look forward to your comments in the future!

Hey, Joe, it’s been short, but thank you too for write-ups you made. Hope to see you in some other blog, or yet, your own.
